Rev. Travis Dykes

Assistant Pastor for Youth and Music

Joining the ministry at WBC in May 2016, Pastor Dykes hails from Chesapeake, Virginia, and has a bachelors degree in Church Youth Ministries from Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA. His goal is to disciple students that know the Lord and help them grow closer in their walk with Him. He also desires to reach out to students that do not know Jesus Christ by meeting them where they are (John 4:7-10) with the ultimate goal of equipping them to reach more people for the cause of Christ (John 4:28-29), and encouraging them not to be mere spiritual spectators in youth group but to be functioning members of the church body as a whole.

7/31/2020 Announcement - Upcoming Events

Dear WBC members and friends,

I trust that you are all doing well as we walk through this world pandemic and social/political unrest by the grace and strength of the Lord Jesus Christ. May we keep our eyes on Jesus, His teachings and the work that He wants us to do.

First, I would like to give a report on our outdoor Sunday Worship Service. For the past eight weeks we have had the joy of gathering in ‘The Grove’ behind the church for uplifting music and spiritual teaching from God’s Word. The attendance has averaged around 100. If you have not come out to join us, please consider attending. This Sunday we will share in Communion. Please bring your own chair, remembering social distance, wear a mask coming, going and speaking to others.

August 9th Pastor Travis will be preaching and we will have a Missions Moment with Curt Detwiler and his wife, Carol.

September 13th we will have our annual Church Picnic. The picnic this year will be different! A true picnic in the grove as we ask you to please bring your own food and beverage. No beverages or food will be served as everyone will bring their own! Please bring chairs or blankets! We are still determining what games maybe involved. We will have a singing time and brief devotional. The start time will be 5:30 pm.

This fall I plan to start a series on ‘Discipleship’ on Sunday evenings.

As we get closer I will communicate the details.

As I close I would like to say, thank you for your continued prayer, work and financial support of the ministry of Whiting Bible Church. May we continue to pray and work to reach our community for Christ.

May the Lord guide us in wisdom and grace as we walk together through these days.

Serving Christ,

Pastor Dave Rittinger
